Responsibilities and Qualifications
The purpose of this Job is to provide comfort and care for Patients and their families as they face a terminal illness. To provide support to co-workers, To assist in the Pastoral Services Department as needed. Qualifications:Because you're committed to excellence, you understand the importance of being properly prepared for your role at Mercy. That's why you'll bring to your role the right set of qualifications:Education: Bachelors Degree in Theology, Divinity, Counseling, Ministry or other related fields.Two units of Clinical Pastoral Education recognized by Association of Professional Chaplains (APC), National Association of Catholic Chaplains (NACC), or Neshama: Association of Jewish Chaplains (NAJC) Preferred Education: Masters level work in Theology, Divinity, Counseling, Ministry equivalence related fieldsFour units of Clinical Pastoral Education recognized by Association of Professional Chaplains (APC), National Association of Catholic Chaplains (NACC), or Neshama: Association of Jewish Chaplains (NAJC) Experience: Experience in visiting in a ministry capacity. Preferred Experience:Current healthcare or military experience. May prefer Catholic May prefer experience with the spiritual care in the ambulatory setting. Other: Must be comfortable dealing with suffering, death and dying. Will performs duties in a manner that reflects the Mercy Core Values of Dignity, Justice, Excellence, Compassionate Service and Stewardship. Recognizes the vulnerable, dependent and fearful state of the sick and their families. Responds with respect, graciousness, kindness, and spiritual comfort, while respecting their privacy. Accepts each person for who they are regardless of race, creed, color sex, education, social status, or ability to pay. Is an advocate for the patient, family member or peer when the need arises. Ministers to all people with emphasis on the spiritual by being supportive presence to all. Facilitates communication between patient, family physician and co-workers. Must be just, honest and impartial in all assigned duties, keep information confidential and respect personal cultural and ethnic preferences. Working telephone line, cell phone, and beeper. Valid Driver's license in Arkansas or Oklahoma Good Driving Record Reliable Transportation Automobile liability insurance in amount required by law in the sate in which the automobile is registered. Must have good coping and management skills and possess good physical and mental health.
Preferred Certifications: Certification in Grief Counseling and / or Thanatology CPE Board Certification with ACPE or NACC
